Bunnyphonic will play her funerary dirges and cantankerous
mechanical bird sounds at Cactus Bra Space on First Friday, July
7th. The performance artist has transformed the small art gallery
space into a giant snowglobe environment. Bunnyphonic is performance
art without the interpretive dance and leotards. Instead, she
prefers felt, feathers, harmoniums and accordions. Bunnyphonic
originates from San Francisco where she performed in Laundromats,
metro bus stations and condemned warehouses. When she is not
performing for audiences as a rabbit playing a 1950s chromatic
accordion, she is better known as a journalist named Michelle
Gonzalez Valdez. The pseudonym used for her performance art
project stems from the anonymous art of noise musicians in San
Francisco. Masks and manufactured environments are prevalent in the
experimental music scene. Bunnyphonic has reinterpreted these
elements into a theatrical, interactive sphere alluding to Dadaist
sensibilities and the Futurists' ear for the unlistenable.
Bunnyphonic will conduct 3 performances on Friday, July 7th. Each
performance is approximately 30 minutes. Don't miss the most
orchidaceous show in town! Show times are 8pm and 9pm.
