New York artist, Ben Marlan takes us into his
“Imaginary
Landscapes”. All of his vistas are born out of his love of bright
or saturated colors and simple, peaceful forms. Coming from bits of
feelings recalled from landscapes that he has traveled to and
sometimes creating them out of a need for harmony and balance in a
space. Through that search for balance, Marlan is discovering the
different ways to place a line, contour or a field of color, pushing
these compositions in unusual ways gives them unique character. The trees, hills, sun and other features of the
landscapes become living creatures, moving around, conversing and
relating with each other, and the viewer. Take them in as friends
and enjoy them. "Painting these landscapes is like
writing a story of a place you were never at, but remember
faintly."- Ben Marlan
