"Perhaps a Brief Anticipation of Nature: A day
          without me, Bulletproof"
          December 3, 2004 -
          January 7, 2005

On First Friday, Alex Lopez exhibit his second installment based on
the series, "Perhaps a Brief Anticipation of Nature",
entitled, "A Day Without me, Bulletproof".

          The long
anticipated installation articulates confabulation in which the artist
merges his own history with the influence of contemporary media. Lopez’s
          newest series "Childhood     switch
          Kid      next      door" focuses on
the choices that one makes to remember the past.
          On the other side
of the world through the midnight desert, one
can see and hear ice cream trucks playing childhood songs and lighting
the way for a young refugee as she makes her way to a food drop. All
of this transpires while the rest of the world looks on from its safe
mountainous grandstand. Several moments of time are captured and
recontextualized to make our surreal images of war and crimes seem
          more hopeful and palatable.
