In March 2007, Aly Dotson flew to San Diego, California to attend the funeral services of her late grandmother. During this period she photographed family members and captured powerful glimpses of the human condition in an environment where a spectrum of emotions are experienced. It is because of this emotional state that images of the environment resonate within us. We are all bound by mortality and will experience loss during our lifetime. Our ability to see these internal glimpses that exist in our eyes and on our faces tie us together. It is one of the unique defining characteristics of humanity. - Jerry Cabrera
