Austin based artist Faith
Gay utilizes "hobby lobby" plastic craft materials to create a
Micro and Macro perspective of forms through colors and patterns.
The material of plastic beads has a kindergarten craft context. but
in Gay's hands, she transforms them into a birds eye view of
a shifting body in the universe or a colorful live fungi sifting and
oozing on the forest floor.
Gay's drawings are also
gleaned from supposed disposable sources, traced from obsolete
learning materials, throw away ad papers, library books and
photographs she creates a whole paragraph of reference through the use
of seemingly unassociated individual units.
