You know that Bruce Sringsteen song that goes-" some people
just give up living, start dying little by little, piece by piece,
others they get off work at night and go out racing in the
streets"(racing in the streets on darkness on the edge of
town)-well this is the chicks version.
Katie Pell has divided the world not into bohemian and
traditional; conservative and liberal, but people who do something
and people who watch and spend. Pin Money' is a
humorous poignant portrayal of disposable income and American
pastimes.
Katie Pell was born and
raised in Wilmington, De. She received a BFA painting from Rhode
Island School Of Design a long time ago. She has worked as a tomato
picker, nanny, workshop instructor, art instructor in after school
programs and Juvenile detention, art fabricator and assistant for
two artists. Since moving to San Antonio in 1995 Katie has been busy
making art in her studio downtown, Among her favorite
accomplishments are receiving artist residencies in Aspen CO and
Pilchuck Glass School, Showing artwork about the country, and most
recently, being included in the Altoids Collection which will travel
around in 2004-5.
